The company that I would use would be a big one so that its well-known so that I will have more chance of being noticed when it comes to selling my magazine but also one that doesn’t also have the same genre of music so that my magazine has more chance of making it in the market and so that there is less competition.

My target audience will be from sixteen to twenty two year olds as when I handed my question airs out they were the age that was most popular age but also they are the age group that chose the genre of music that I’m doing they also follow the clothes ranges that I would put in my magazine if I was going to advertise clothing in it but not only that they are interested in the same things as me and my genre which is really good as it means that I can put articles in that they can relate to

I would sell it in either a supermarket or a newsagent as these are the places that came up as the most popular in my question air I will also advertise it on the tv for a while so people know that they can now get it as it’s a new magazine. But also people are more likely to see it so because these are the shops that they are always buying there magazines from.

Question one

The main images will a midclose up so they will create a sense for the genre of the magazine but I will make sure that the size of the font isn’t to big so it takes up half the age but not to small so that it can’t be read I will use two colours to keep it simple so that they will be able to see what’s going on without getting distracted but over tome come to recognise the colour and pick it up just by looking at the colour but I don’t want to use colours that are to vibrant because they will distract the eyes from the articles which are the main sell lines.  

My Evaluation

In my product I tried to make it as much like a music magazine that I could, without breaking the copyright laws so I used existing magazines as templates but I also tried to make it unique so that it would sell but still have a place in the market, the conventions that it follows are that the name of the magazine which is ‘sound wave’ is in the top left of the page and this so that when it’s on the rack it can be seen.

 I also had Mickeys (who’s my main image) head over the title and once again this is something that I noticed in my research that the majority of big magazines did this. Further down on the front cover I put on sell lines and this is so that it will catch people’s eyes and make them want to read it, it could also draw people that wouldn’t normally buy the magazine in as it has something in it that they are interested in so in turn this could bring more buyers in the future if they like the magazine as a whole.

My magazine is aimed more for the people who are into indie music so it has a niece market as not many people are ‘indie’ but as time goes by more and more people are starting to listen to it but my magazine could also open up the market for  this genre of magazine as you mainly get rock.

so this could mean that if I was going to sell my product and I sold it with the right company then it has potential to be a big hit but I am also running the risk that it won’t work as there isn’t that many magazines on the market that are the same genre so it’s not proven to be a good seller but on the other hand this could be a good thing as there is a gap in the market so it could sell.

The age that I was hoping for was for sixteen to twenty four so then I would have to keep it up to date and modern but this will also have in the types of articles that I’ll wright about, but I am also aiming to go for both sexes so to make sure that I didn’t offend anyone so I tried to go for a colour scheme that I saw would fit in both sexes.

The institution that I will use is Electronic Arts (EA for short) and this is because they are the institution that kerrang uses but also they have a gap in the market or a magazine like mine but the fact that they have kerrang shows that they can handle big magazines so there would know what to do with mine and how to sell and market it so this would be a big help for my magazine as its new so they would help to get it known, but also the fact that they have kerrang people would see that and then it would show that my magazine is worth buying.

The things that I’ve learnt about technologies is that they are an amazing thing if you know how to use them for example to get my pictures I used a Nikon 400D which is a good DSLR so I was able to capture some good images which I then used in my product but I also got images that I couldn’t use as they were out of focus, so on the other hand they can be a pain and cause you problems photoshop was the programme that I used to create my product and edit my images but once again if you have an idea of what you are doing then its really good but it can also be really frustrating as you can easily do something wrong but you can get some amazing results out of it.

I think that I’ve made my product look a lot better than the one I did for my college magazine as I feel that I have made it look a lot more professional and felt more confident in using photoshop so I edited it a lot more and added more sell lines but also in a way that all of the big magazines would do so it would fit in the market of magazines so I would be able to sell it and people would buy it but it would also survive in the market.
